We get phone calls every year from international students looking to come to America for a BS/MD program. Is it possible for international students to do this? Yes. Is it incredibly difficult and even more competitive than BS/MD program admittance is for U.S. citizens? Yes again.
There are a very small amount of BS/MD programs that accept international applicants. As you may notice from the list below many of the programs that will consider international applicants are in the most selective tier of BS/MD programs. This means BS/MD opportunities for international applicant are limited and incredibly competitive.
For this reason it is imperative that international students interested in American BS/MD programs also apply to a variety of traditional undergraduate schools that have a history of strong medical school placement (as we also strongly recommend for our American students as well). There are many excellent options for undergraduate education available including many excellent schools who love increasing their global reach and diversity through strong international applicants.
But in the meantime, as of the 2015 printing of BS/MD Programs-The Complete Guide: Getting Into Medical School from High School, the following BS/MD programs will consider international students.
University of Connecticut at Storrs
Northwestern University (HPME)
Boston University
St. Louis University
Washington University in St. Louis
University of Rochester (REMS)
Case Western Reserve University
Penn State University
Brown University (PLME)
Rice/Baylor
New Jersey Institute of Technology/American University of Antigua
New Jersey Institute of Technology/St. George’s University School of Medicine
