Every year we get requests to post where our students have been accepted. These results are not complete because some students prefer not to have their admissions listed but it should give a representative sample of how our students did in the admissions process this year.
These are the BS/MD admissions only. We also had students admitted to many of the most selective colleges but the majority of our students are attending a BS/MD program. A number after the college indicates the number of students that were accepted to that BS/MD program.

Do you do college counselling for kids interested in entering into BS/DO program

Is it realistic to try getting in BS?MD program if the ACT score is 32 and top 5% in high school graduating class?
Todd Johnson says
Shiza,
I have had a number of students with basic academic qualifications such as you describe get admitted to a BS/MD program.

Hi Mr. Johnson,
How important are AP exam scores for BS/MD programs? Additionally, as the common app allows you to self-report, would you recommend not reporting scores below a 4?
Thank you
Todd Johnson says
N,
Typically AP scores are not used by most colleges in the admissions process but rather are used for placement once a student is admitted to a college. It is a personal choice on whether to report AP scores at all but I typically don’t recommend scores below a 4.

Hello Mr. Johnson,
I heard that research is an important component for applicant to have in order to be admitted into a BS/MD program. I have done independent research and have carried out experiments at my school under a mentor but haven’t published anything or entered into any science competitions. I also will not have any of these things done by the time I submit my applications. Do you think the research that I have done so far is enough?
Also I am very interested in the Penn State’s and BU’s BS/MD programs. Would you happen to know what the average SAT scores are for the students that got admitted?
Lastly, how important do you think it is to shadow a physician for admission into the BS/MD program? It is very hard to find a doctor that is willing to allow me to shadow them because I am a high school student, especially in the nyc area. How do you think I should go about finding doctors to shadow.
I would greatly appreciate any last tips as I go into the application season! Thank You!

Is BS/MD really conditional guaranteed program as long as students meet the criteria to get in Med school?
In between BS/MD schools, Is there any school may not guarantee the seat even if the student meet the requirement such as all above B and MCAT 511??
If the student apply for regular school, he may be a strong candidate at IVY School.
Instead Applying IVY, When Applying BS/MD school such as Hofstra, the name value of the undergrad school is not as popular as IVY`s. Even if the student meets the all criteria to get in med school, any chance to not get in med school??
I would like to know any school do like this???
Todd Johnson says
Ned,
The research you desribe is fine for BS/MD programs. You do not need to have published anything to be competitive. On the other hand, if you don’t have any doctor shadowing, that is likely to hurt your application. You really need to try and find someone to shadow.
Todd Johnson says
David,
You are correct that most BS/MD programs have some conditions such as minimum grades. This is to make sure that the student doesn’t quite trying once they are into a program. That being said, I am not aware of any program that does not honor the guarantee if the student meets the criteria that are laid out when they start the program. The criteria often includes other things like volunteering and participation in activities for BS/MD students in the programs but these are easy things to do if you are in the program and if you fail to do these things, you aren’t really trying.

Hey Mr. Johnson,
I have a 1450 on the SAT, weighted GPA of a 96, have done shadowing, research, and volunteering. Do you think I have a chance at getting into the BS/MDs at Boston Uni., Stonybrook, or Rugters? Do you know of any other programs in the tri-state area that take students with my stats? Thanks
