The New York Times has an interesting article about students having trouble getting into classes that they want to take in college. No surprise there. This has been happening at big universities all the time. The twist is the students in the article are attending small and mid sized private colleges.
In some ways this is not news as this sort of thing has been happening since I was in college. (A long time ago). But, the reason you need to know about this is to make sure you ask the right questions when investigating colleges. Ask current students at the college whether they have ever had trouble registering for a class. If so, what type of class was it. Something that they thought sounded fun or a class that they needed for their major.
No school can offer every class to every student that might want to take it. But if the students you talk to are being shut out of classes they need for a major, you need to ask a lot more questions.
