The New York Times has a post today showing the most recent application numbers at many of the selective colleges in the country. As expected most colleges were up although the range was tremendous.
Two big winners, if you view increased applications as good, were Case Western which was up 44.51% and Macalester which was up 40.63%.
On the other hand, Wesleyan and Pomona were both down slightly.
Overall I think what we are seeing is a continuation of years past with more students submitting more applications due to the ease of using the common application. I fear that the days of submitting 3 or 4 applications for the typical student are going by the wayside.
