I just received an email from the Dean of the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College at Florida Atlantic University announcing that they are starting a new BS/MD program, the Wilkes Medical Scholars Program.
The program is in conjunction with the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine of Florida Atlantic University. This is either a 7 or 8 year program depending on the needs of the students and their particular course of study. Students must be residents of Florida to be eligible for the program.
Other admission requirements include:
- 1,350 on SAT critical reading and math or a 31 on the ACT
- Unweighted GPA of 3.75
- Be a senior in high school
- Have taken 4 years of both English and math as well as a year of high school biology and a year of high school chemistry at a US high school
- Must be accepted into the honors college
Once accepted into the program students must maintain a 3.5 GPA in college and take the MCAT with a minimum score of 29.

Is this still a true BS/MD program? On their website it is now showing that to matriculate to the med school a 510 MCAT is required, a medical school interview must be passed, and the AMCAS/secondary must be completed.

This is still a true BS/MD program. There are several medical schools that require an interview and filing of an AMCAS application. It is typically just to confirm that the person has done everything they needed to do to advance to the medical school.

Historically FAU accepts about 5 or 6 into their program.
