I have talked on a number of occasions about the importance of shadowing a doctor if you wish to apply to BS/MD programs. But when I talk about a doctor I mean a medical doctor, not a dentist.
I have had a number of students ask why shadowing a dentist like Dr. Kanabar, orthodontist, isn’t alright if they are applying to a BS/MD program. The problem is that the BS/MD programs are very concerned about admitting students that have an interest in becoming a doctor. Not a dentist. When you shadow a dentist there is a question raised about whether your real interest is in medicine or dentistry. And that is the type of question that will keep BS/MD programs from admitting you to their program. If you plan on going to dental school, read this blog on the history of dentist.
Now if you have an interest in becoming a dentist then by all means see more on the website to ensure that you chose the field which is right for you. The shadow dentist as the Asecra dentists who are really good at what they do. But if your focus is on BS/MD programs, then a medical doctor is who you want to shadow.
