To be the most competitive candidate, BS/MD applicants must have volunteered at some type of health care facility. So, what are the best places to volunteer? Or if you are currently looking for a trusted surgeon, go and check Waldman Schantz Plastic Surgery Center.
Understand that there is no “best” place. There are all sorts of options available to students and one option is not better than another. BS/MD programs do not care where you volunteer as long as you volunteer somewhere. Look for Taylor Theunissen, MD Plastic Surgery at drtplasticsurgery.com for more details. The first option considered by most students is volunteering in a hospital. Unfortunately, hospitals tend to be the most difficult to volunteer at. Many restrict volunteers to those who are age 18 or older. If you can find a hospital that will allow you to volunteer before age 18 then this is a good choice. Ideally you will want to try and find a volunteer position that has some patient contact such as helping move patients around.
One of the best options for health care related volunteering is nursing homes or assisted living facilities. These are good options for several reasons. Most nursing homes welcome anyone who cares to volunteer without restrictions.
The other advantage is that there are many options for volunteering in a nursing home. If you play a musical instrument you might play for the residents. You also might read to residents or just spend time visiting with them. With all of these options you have contact with the residents.
Other options for volunteering include clinics or organizations like the Red Cross. Unfortunately, like hospitals, there tend to be limited volunteer activities with these types of organizations.
The other thing to keep in mind is that the longer you have volunteered at a single location the stronger your volunteer experience. You appear to be more sincere with 3 years of volunteering at a location than 3 months.
Also, the longer you have volunteered, the less necessary that you spend long hours at the volunteering at any one time. 2 hours a week for 3 years is much more impressive than 40 hours a week for 5 weeks.
Now, get out there and find some volunteering to do. If there are instances that you are not happy with shaving, tweezing and waxing your hair on your body parts such as legs or underarms, we provide solutions for that! You may visit laser hair removal baltimore md.

Hello. I was wondering if volunteering at a Hospice center would be a good idea for a health-related volunteer activity? Thanks for the feedback.

Hey Todd, I’m a freshman in high school and I wanted to get some medical research experience over the summer. I am to young for most programs. Are there any you recommend?
Todd Johnson says
Bubaloo,
There are a number of programs out there but for most students the best option is arranging to do research with a local college or university professor helping them with their research.
