According to a new study, the answer is that it is not that hard to get into most colleges. The report entitled “The Changing Selectivity of American Colleges” was reported on by Inside Higher Ed.
The report found that while there are a few colleges that have become much more competitive in the last few years, the selectivity of most colleges has not changed and in fact as many as half of all colleges are less selective than they have been in the past.
The news media focuses on those colleges that have become very competitive and as a result, students worry about whether they will be able to be accepted into college at all. This study provides further evidence of the availability of attending college for almost anyone who wishes to go.
